TARTAN TWIRLS

This quilt features two traditional patterns. The blocks are in the Roman Stripe pattern and the layout is a Pinwheel design. The tartan stripes give a Scottish flavour to the quilt and in addition the pinwheel layout suggests four hands across to make a wheel, a common formation in Scottish Country Dances. The dark navy is a perfect backdrop for the vibrant colours of the tartans. The blocks are 7 x 7 ins / 18 x 18 cms with an inner tartan border of 1½ ins / 4 cms and navy outer border of 4 ins / 10 cms.

This quilt would also make a striking wall-hanging.
