Quilting completed, a double fold binding in a contrasting fabric is sewn to the front of the quilt, ready for turning to the back and hand stitching.

Two lines of parallel quilting are stitched in the border.

Quilting is proceeding well . After stablizing the quilt by stitching between the squares and the border, the quilt top is then quilted in the ditch between the squares, both vertically and horizontally.

The quilt is now layered - backing, wadding and quilt top now secured with curved quilting safety pins . Ready for quilting to begin !

All the rows are now stitched together. The quilt top is pressed before adding 6 inch borders on all sides.

All the horizontal rows having been sewn and pressed, these are now joined.

The squares are laid out randomly, but with consideration of colour balance across the quilt. Once happy with the layout, each horizontal row is stacked and numbered ready for sewing.

Fabrics have all been ironed prior to cutting 5½ inch squares - 306 required. However, as the layout is to be random a few extras of each fabric are cut.

All the fabrics are pre-washed - for shrinkage and /or colour-run , and dried on a windy day !
