A double-fold binding is sewn to the front ready to be turned to the back and stitched by hand.

Quilting is completed.Trimming the edges to the required size in preparation for adding the binding.

Quilting is progressing well.

The backing, wadding and quilt top are layered  and secured with pins ready for quilting.

Three oystercatchers on the sand -  appliqued in place.

We have now reached the shoreline. Checking that after trimming we meet the required dimensions of width and length.

As curved strips of increasing width and lighter hues are added we are approaching the shoreline.

Now the construction of the picture begins. The horizon is sewn in the traditional manner followed by strips of fabric of increasing width being added using the layer and topstitch technique.
